Selfie Sunday

I think the title says it all.  Went to church this morning solo.  Not sure what Amber was up to but dad and mom had a lot to do at the farm today.  No biggie.  And my workout partner bailed on me, but for good reason.  She had to go help her brother out at the house since he got injured and needed some help with some things.  I might shoot into the gym anyways and get in a little work out.  Planning on meeting her tomorrow morning to get pumped. The last few days have been pretty busy.  Working a lot, which is a good thing.  I had to fix Oinker's sleeping mat since it started to rip on one of the seams.  I picked up some more fabric to make myself another pair of gym pants.  These will be black and will make me look less like a surgeon (my other pair is turquoise).  I'll probably get some more jersey knit to make a few t-shirts and tanks too.  Maybe I'll start making some gym stuff and see if I can get into the athlet...

Two Halves

It's a What Up Wednesday!  I was in a spunky mood this morning.  Getting to bed a little early will do that for a guy.  In case you missed it, I just gave you my excuse for not posting yesterday...if you still missed it, I will whisper it in your ear (I fell asleep early and did not type). So this morning, being so full of energy and being in a generally good mood (I did help to save a baby alpaca the other day), I decided to play a little joke on Bumpers .  Here is a little back story.  I totally started working at the restaurant before she was even in kindergarten (I know, I'm old as a Moses fart).  However, I have not worked there since like 2007 so evidently my old parking spot is forfeit.  It just so happens that my old parking spot is Bumper's current parking spot.  On one of my first nights back to work a few months ago, I parked in what I believed to be my parking spot.  It was claimed decades ago...I even urinated in it to mark it...

Now This is Art

Saw this on my run today...I honestly don't know why I took a picture.  Maybe just because I could?  It is kind of cute.  Obviously a lot of love and effort was put into this.  Some heartless people might want to call this "ruffian graffiti".  But you have to look closer, see the motivation of the artist to express themselves this way. Today, Bumpers called herself an "art-teeste"...like, some fancy way of saying, "Hey, I'm a creative spirit and I channel that creativity through various mediums including drawing, painting and sketching with Sharpie (R) markers."  Of course, I gave her a hard time and told her she sounded like one of those hippies that hang out at Starbucks (R)...which she is and she does. So this was how she got back at me for pointing out an obvious fact about her life:  I had just cut, peeled and chopped fifty pounds of onions...FIFTY POUNDS OF ONIONS (without shedding a single tear...usually I'm an emotional mess when ...

This One's For You

Come on, don't pretend like you don't know who I'm talking about.  I know you're reading this right now.  There was a promise made tonight, and I'm keeping it...so here you go.  This post is yours. She drew this portrait of me...pretty  spot on. I was going to wake up at 7:00 a.m. this morning to go for a jog.  It's been about two weeks since I went running, mostly because my back has been bothering me.  The person I'm writing this post for kept me up until nearly 2:00 a.m.  This is not a complaint, it really was the highlight of my day and I would do it every night if that's what they want.  I actually woke up at 7:30 this morning, by some sort of miracle.  When I looked outside, I would have lost money betting that there was a hurricane out there.  It was insane.  It was raining sideways!  Bell got scared and was pacing out in front of my bedroom door so mom let her in.  She came over to me in bed, like she was mak...

Dinner with A Side of Laughs

So my dad's parents have been in town since Friday.  I've been working pretty much non-stop since they got in and tonight I did not have to work.  So we went out for dinner together.  We went down to the waterfront to the place formerly known as Captain Bill's .  It's called Southern Salt now.  To be honest, the food was pretty good, the service not so much.  Maybe our waitress was new, or maybe it was a bad night in the kitchen, but our food took so long to get to us that the manager even asked us what was up.  When the order came, it was missing side items and was not very hot.  What was hot was the bar tender.  And she had on these jean shorts...oh my.  Anyways, got a few shots off the deck before the sun fully set.  I was disappointed that the sun actually set behind a bunch of buildings and not behind the island like I hoped it would. Besides the short comings of Southern Salt, we had a pretty good evening.  We lau...

Boo For Doctors!

I spent nearly the entire afternoon at the doctor's office and the pharmacy.  Waking up this morning, my eye hurt and was burning and itching.  I wanted to rip it out of my eye and feed it to my pet raven.  Okay, I don't have a pet raven but that would be pretty bad ass.  I did the whole hot rag on the eye thing plus drowned it in Clear Eyes but by time lunch rolled around I was miserable and just went to the urgent care. Not pleased to waste my day here... The up side was that I was off work today anyways so I didn't technically lose any money in that way.  Beach Care in Morehead City was not busy.  What I mean by that is that I was one of two people sitting in the waiting area.  I saw the nurse rather quickly, which was a plus.  I did the whole eye chart thing.  Spoiler alert, the eye that I came in for them to look at had worse vision than the other.  Never would have guessed.  I got kind of worried when the nurse brought ...

Rrrrrrrrrraaaaaaahhhh!

ROAR!  These cool little dinos were on display at Tractor Supply.  Of course I had to snap a quick photo of them.  Dad, mom and I drove in to pick some things up for the farm last night.  Afterwards, it was a Hardee's milkshake for dad and I.   Tonight, we had chicken fajitas.  Or just chicken tacos...I'm not sure.  But I do know this, they were very tasty.  I fired up the grill in the back yard and threw some chicken tenders on there, seasoned with some salt, pepper and a splash of lemon and lime juice.  Dad and I watched another episode of Iron Fist on Netflix and then watched Doctor Strange.  What an awesome movie, I really enjoyed it.  Gotta be in to work at 8:30 tomorrow morning so I'm gonna call it a night.
