Come Up or Petit Theft?

I did not misspell that...Google it if you must.

The flea market was so dead today, it was very depressing.  I spent maybe twenty minutes there and saw a blue ray player that I was thinking about getting but then decided that without a refund policy in place I should probably skip that one.

Then I shot to Wal-Mart to look for a case and screen protector for mom's tablet.  Dad got her a Galaxy Tab A 10.1 inch for Mother's Day and I've been spending the day setting it up for her.  The idea is that she can use it for the Barnyard and take it with her so she can always have her calendar, phone numbers and emails with her.  She honestly is not huge on the technology thing but maybe we can get her to like it.  I'm sort of jealous though.  I have a 9 inch Galaxy Tab E so mom's is slightly larger and a little more powerful than mine.

I didn't find a suitable case or screen protector so I settled with buying some tea (Early Grey and Green) and shot to the self checkout line.  A guy had just grabbed his stuff and walked away.  Without really looking, I tried to scan my tea and the machine told me to take my change.  Confused, I looked down and saw two twenties hanging from the change slot.  Holy crap!  I looked around and the guy was already gone so I pulled the money out and set it aside while I scanned and paid for my tea (with my debit card, not his cash).  The guy still didn't come back so I walked out to the front and stood there for a minute looking for him but he was long gone.

So, here is the quandary...is taking this forty dollars a come up on my part or is it petit theft?  Technically, the money is not mine so you could argue I stole it.  However, it was abandoned and therefore did not have an owner until I claimed it.  Or, because it was dispensed from the Wal-Mart self check out machine, does it belong to Wal-Mart?  Wow...that's some heavy thinking this late at night.  Post me a comment and let me know what you think!  Best answer gets a prize.

I spent the rest of the afternoon cleaning the house and finishing a gift for Oinkers.  As soon as I get a photo of her with it, I will post it or post a link to it.  Went into work at 5:30 and boy was it super busy this evening.  I didn't leave until 12:37 and I'm already at 37 hours for the week with another 9 scheduled for Mother's Day tomorrow...ehrm, this afternoon.  Can you say, "Over Time?"  I ended up closing down dish tonight because the other guy was just overwhelmed and we needed to get it done and get gone ASAP Rocky.  No biggie, I actually enjoy dish...kind of peaceful.

Bumpers flipped me off 11 times tonight even though I tried to have my family sit in her section when they came in to eat and I gave her chocolate and I was super nice to her all night.  Thank God for girls, right?

Gonna finish up the final touches on mom's tablet, comment on Bumper's blog and then hit the hay after I'm charged up.  Church with the family and then work at noon.  Should be a crazy day.  Deuces.

  1. So that's where my $40 went. I say because you didn't immediately pocket the cash it's yours. You even waited for the true owner to come back and get it. At that point, his loss is your gain. As for me, I believe we had a deal, 50-50 split with the $40. It's okay though, you were super nice to me all night, that had to be hard, keep $20 for that hard work!
